COMTECH 23c/m TV BREAKTHROUGH CURE

Having just moved to CLEVELEYS in Lancashire very near to the sea front I put up a 38 element Severnside ATV antenna at about 26 feet up with the help of a local Radio Amateur.

However after feeding the signal into a COMTECH 23c/m RX even after the normal modes I got plenty of TV signals that seemed to be also tunable so it was not IF breakthrough but Cross modulation from Winter Hill at least 30miles from me but a clear path.

The COMTECH RX's do go down in sensitivity to around -95 to -100dbm so I was not surprised when I measured at least 2m/V of signal on the spectrum analyzer coming down my system.

After a few days though I remembered I had somewhere amongst all my unpacked boxes a 3 element interdigital filter minus (been robbed) its "N" type sockets.. On finding and repairing same I peaked it up on 1316MHz where I get GB3TM repeater from Angelsey 63miles away. Then I tested to see what rejection of unwanted TV signals I have it was -35db down and cleared up ALL the TV signals so it was a simple cure.

The fitter design is in one of the RSGB books. G3RFL
